I wanted to share a few simple tips with you today about displaying art prints—because I know how much thought goes into choosing the perfect piece, and I want to help you make it look absolutely stunning in your home
Mounting & Framing
When framing a paper print then using a mount (also called a mat) creates a beautiful border between the artwork and the frame. The mount does two important things: it protects the print from touching the glass, and it gives the artwork space to breathe. I prefer a white mount as I find that it sets off the colours beautifully by giving contrast and drawing your eye straight to the art itself but there are a variety of different options if you would like a splash of colour!
If you're buying an unframed print and want to frame it yourself, you have lots of lovely options. Metal frames offer a sleek, contemporary feel with extra durability. Acrylic frames are lightweight and modern—perfect if you want a crisp, minimalist look. Think about both the print and the mood of your room when choosing what feels right for your space.
Placement & Height
Here's a simple rule that works beautifully: hang your art so the centre sits at eye level—roughly 57 to 60 inches from the floor to the middle of the piece. This creates a natural, comfortable viewing height. If you're creating a gallery wall, keep frames about 2 to 3 inches apart and try aligning their tops or bottoms for a cohesive feel. It makes all the difference.
Lighting
Soft, even lighting highlights colour without glare. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade pigment over time. Gentle, diffused light is your friend—it keeps the colours rich and vibrant.
Creating Space
One thing I've also learned is that less really can be more. Give your artwork space to breathe. Adequate space around each piece lets it command attention and ensures your wall feels curated rather than crowded. Neutral walls work wonderfully as a backdrop, letting the colour and energy of the art take centre stage.
I hope these little tips help you create a space that feels uplifting and beautiful—somewhere your art can truly shine and bring you joy every single day.
