A Celebration of Wild Blooms and Literary Beauty – ‘Blooming at Hardy’s’ on Display

There’s something incredibly special about walking through the countryside in early summer, when the wildflowers are bursting into life and the air feels rich with the scent of the season. That’s the feeling I hoped to capture in my watercolour piece Blooming at Hardy’s — and I’m so pleased to share that this painting is currently on display at Holme for Gardens, at the Orchard Café, until the 7th of July 2025.

Watercolour painting of Dorset countryside near Hardy’s Cottage, filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery in a dreamy style.

This piece was inspired by a quiet, flower-filled moment at Hardy’s Cottage in Dorset. I wanted to reflect not just the visual beauty of the garden in bloom, but the atmosphere — that peaceful blend of history, solitude and nature that lingers in the air. With soft watercolour washes, loose brushwork, and gentle greens, pinks and yellows, I let the blooms take centre stage and guide the composition.

Blooming at Hardy’s is full of layered textures and expressive colour. It speaks to a sense of rootedness in the landscape and celebrates the simple, fleeting magic of wildflowers at their peak. If you’re local to Dorset, I’d love for you to see it in person at Holme for Gardens. It’s part of my current collection on display at the Orchard Café and will be there until 7th July 2025.

And if you can’t make it to the exhibition, I’ll soon be adding this piece as a print in my shop too — so keep an eye out!

Thank you so much for supporting my work, and for sharing in the beauty of these wild places with me.
