There's a particular kind of stillness you only really notice beside water. The way everything seems to slow down. The way the noise in your head goes quiet, even just for a moment.
That's the feeling I wanted to capture with this print. Exodus 14:14 says, "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." It's such a simple verse, but goodness, it's a hard one to actually live out, isn't it? We're so used to fighting our own battles, trying to fix things ourselves, staying busy so we don't have to sit with uncertainty.
I designed this scene with a soft watercolour-style palette — a quiet dock stretching out across calm water, a little boat resting in the distance, and a golden sunset settling over it all. I wanted it to feel like the kind of place where you could actually exhale.
I also have to say — this print was actually suggested by Elizabeth, one of my lovely customers - I really hope she loves how it's turned out, because it was such a joy to create.
I think we all need reminders like this. Moments where we're invited to stop striving, stop worrying, and simply trust that God is already at work, fighting for us even when we can't see it.
If you've got a season right now where you need to hear those words — be still — I hope this print finds its way to your home and brings you the same sense of peace it brought me while I was creating it.
